Serpa Pinto Housing

In the heart of southern Matosinhos, along Avenida Serpa Pinto, a new housing project is taking shape, aiming to address the city's growing need for residential space. This development, spanning a 560 square meters plot, plans to feature a nine-floor building that includes 20 contemporary apartments, catering to the demand for urban living.

As urban populations continue to rise, cities worldwide, including Matosinhos, are experiencing a shortage of suitable housing options. This project is designed to offer a variety of apartment layouts, making it easier for new families and individuals to find their ideal home in the city. The focus of the housing block is to create high-quality living spaces that are both spacious and bathed in daylight.

The apartments are designed to optimize the influx of natural light, with large windows extending from the street-facing side to the rear, which overlooks a garden. This garden is designed as a peaceful space for residents, result of careful landscape planning. The orientation and layout of each flat take full advantage of solar exposure and scenic views, ensuring that living spaces are comfortable and energy-efficient. The building's design includes centrally located vertical connections for easy access across floors, and most apartments are designed to be cross-ventilated, enhancing airflow and natural light.

The building showcases a coral shade facade design on both sides. The west facade, facing towards a more private patio area, predominantly features glass and recessed balconies for added privacy and outdoor enjoyment. The east facade, which faces the street, is designed with privacy and environmental control in mind, allowing for adequate lighting and ventilation without compromising on privacy.

An architectural feature is the playful facade on the pilotis - the supports for the upper floors - which vary in shape, including squares, triangles, and circles. This variation contributes to the building's visual appeal and enhances its overall aesthetic, breaking the monotony of urban architecture.

This development in Matosinhos enhances the quality of life and well-being of its residents. Through both architectural planning and landscape design, it creates a living environment that balances modern amenities with natural beauty and community spaces. This approach ensures that each apartment is not just a place to live, but designed to support and uplift its inhabitants, contributing to a healthier, more fulfilling urban lifestyle.
