The opening of the new office in Lisbon, located at 170 Rua de São Marçal in the Príncipe Real district—known for its vibrant cultural life and as a hub of creativity and inspiration—marks a significant milestone in MASSLAB's ongoing expansion.
Following the 2023 expansion of its Porto headquarters, the Lisbon office reflects MASSLAB's commitment to fostering connections with clients and business partners across Lisbon, central Portugal, and the south of the country.
The new space, once a bar characterized by its low lighting and black walls, floors, and ceilings, has been completely transformed. Renovated from scratch, the office now combines raw elements, such as a concrete ceiling and steel with brighter finishes, including white lacquered desks, a white epoxy floor by CIN, and steel details. The project redesign not only brightened the environment but also established a sense of continuity and identity with the Porto office.
Natural light enters through small semi-arched windows and a new large glass door, allowing ample light to fill the space. At the same time, the glass door acts as a display window for passersby, offering a view into the office's activity. To complement the natural light, a variety of lamps by Davide Groppi have been installed, enhancing the interior ambiance with lighting that improves the work experience.
The layout features long communal desks for work and collaboration, alongside a circular table for smaller discussions and meetings. The wall at the end of the space is defined by a large metal shelving unit, which serves as storage for models, books, and materials while curving seamlessly to connect with the kitchen. A thin layer of cork was applied to the walls, creating a surface suitable for hanging drawings, pictures, and project discussions. These elements were painted white, ensuring continuity with the walls and further enhancing the space's brightness.
