The student residence Milestone Porto Asprela received the LEED Gold certification and it is the first LEED-certified building in the Iberian Peninsula for the category “Hospitality”. The building scored 62 points LEED, the highest rate registered in Europe until 2021 for building in the category LEED V4 - Hospitality, the same result obtained by a certified building in Ireland.

“Since the concept phase, we have taken account of low-impact aspects such as materials selections, pollution control, waste treatment, and research of methods to reduce the environmental impact. The energy, acoustic, and thermal performances, as well as usage of raw materials, building life cycles, and maintenance, were deeply studied to achieve the result of an eco-friendly construction.”

The student residence Milestone Porto Asprela was formally inaugurated on 19th November 2019 and represents 220 individual rooms, located in one of the main areas of higher education in the city of Porto.

The campus offers students social, academic, and environmental strengths. The contemporary architecture building offers large windows, provides optimal studying conditions and indoor spaces, that are ideal for individual or group study activities. The building also includes relaxed moments in the terraced balconies, the gym, or the common spaces. All rooms are equipped with a small kitchen and a private bathroom.

Milestone Porto Asprela has been constantly focusing on an environmentally friendly approach to building, taking into account the natural and surrounding areas.

The new campus enables a conscious lifestyle by allowing the water used in baths showers and kitchens to be recycled to be used in sewage systems of the same building, also these are high-energy efficiency buildings, that use renewable sources of energy and intelligent energy systems, air conditioning control systems and thermal coating performance, ensuring a responsible building use.
