TERRA

TERRA arises from the need to create a continuity between existing spaces and the future urban development. The integration in the urban fabric is not the only issue, the participation of the people in the process is the key point.

The project's exterior spaces and the city are linked generating a continuous flow in the urban pattern, from the main central courtyard to the private terraces of every apartment.

This concept creates more than a simple residential block: urban density and diversity shape the building organizing the program as a vertical sequence of spaces through the building.

The aim to use the building to integrate the nature and the city is originated by the contrast between the shape of the building and the urban environment: the project takes advantage of the plot's different levels generating a constant interaction between exterior and interior, expanding the user experience of living the space.

Therefore TERRA is characterized by two different layers: a "hard edge" that defines the interaction with the urban context and a "soft edge" with the intimacy of a district and the natural environment.

While the traditional building is usually associated with alienation between user and exterior space, the project is the opportunity to integrate in the everyday life topics day by day more important: TERRA proposes to integrate exterior space, sustainability, green areas, urban farming, privacy and neighborhood.

This concept produces a new kind of architecture that has the main focus in the development of an innovative landscape: the shape of the building resembles a rural environment of a valley. The project combines the advantages of a single-family house, with private terraces and gardens, and the urban block, with a central position in the city.

Moreover the volume creates incredible views of the city taking advantages of the plot's different levels, like from a peak of a hill.
